Part 2: Tips for Writing Great Interview Questions
The strength of your interview depends on the clarity of your questions and the intent behind them.
Understand What You're Looking For
Before finalizing your questions, ask yourself: What exactly do I want to learn from this response?
Here are two examples showing how phrasing impacts what you can score:
Example 1: Provided an example of working with difficult stakeholders?
What will the scoring tell me:
-
You’ll get a general summary
-
Scoring will focus on whether they gave an example—not how strong it was
Example 2: Share an example of when you had to manage difficult stakeholders and drive urgency.
-
You’ll receive a clearer picture of their ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
-
Scoring will reflect execution and outcomes
