How is my identity data stored and protected?
Braintrust uses Persona, a trusted identity verification provider, to securely process your information.

- Persona follows strict security frameworks (including SOC 2, GDPR, and CCPA compliance)
- Your information is only used to verify your identity and prevent fraud—not for marketing or unrelated purposes
Who can see my identity information?
Only Braintrust Talent Matchers and admins can see your identity verification results.
- Persona acts as a service provider (processor) on behalf of Braintrust
- Persona does not sell or share your data with third parties

- Access is limited to what’s necessary to complete verification and support your account
Is my identity information shared with clients?
No, your identity documents (like your ID or selfie) are not shared with clients.
Clients only see the information that you entered on your Braintrust profile information and application details. Clients do not see your verification data. Persona only provides verification results to Braintrust, not to hiring companies.
How long is my data retained?
- Persona’s default is to delete data once verification is complete
- In some cases, data may be retained longer for fraud prevention, legal, or support purposes
- In all cases, retention follows strict security and privacy standards
You can request deletion of your data at any time by submitting a request on our Help Center.
What types of IDs are accepted?
Depending on your country, we accept:
- Driver’s license
- Passport
- Passport Card
- State ID
- Permanent Resident Card
- Non-Citizen Travel Document
- Visa
- Work Permit
What happens if my identity verification fails?
If verification isn’t successful:
- Your application won’t be submitted or processed
- You can contact support to request a retry by submitting a ticket on our Help Center.
How many attempts do I get?
- There are a total of 2 attempts
- Resubmitting due to blurry images does not count as a new attempt. However, if you submit blurry images 5 times, the verification will fail.

Does Persona or Braintrust use my data for AI training or sell it?
No.
